I recommend starting your journey as soon as possible. As you can see, the program runs week to week, so you need to pick the best start day for you mentally. What day do you feel the most motivated? I often hear people procrastinate on trying to find the right time to start a program. I hear comments such as ‘I will start after Easter, Christmas or after the holidays’. Let me tell you, there is never a right time, so why not start your journey now?

Take some time before you start to read through the menus to get yourself familiar with what the goal of each week will be. See The menu plan on pages 198–217.

Week 1 is all about learning what you need to remove and include in your diet. Your body will enter ketosis during this stage. Just a reminder that this is not the keto diet, but rather a healthy program that creates ketones. You might experience a headache around days 4–7, but this is completely normal and will come to be celebrated as a sign that you are officially fat burning.

Now is the time to start tracking your progress. To do this:

Take your measurements

Weigh yourself

Start writing your goals and journalling

Schedule your exercise days in your journal. Exercise is an essential part of the 10:10 Plan, remembering we lose fat through our breath as well as our sweat. See Get moving on pages 32–43 to learn more about the importance of exercise.
